So after a fine Boxing day win over Burnley, Everton and Carlo Ancelotti travel to Newcastle United for tomorrow’s Premier League match as the festive fixture pile-up continues.

Everton have barely had time to draw breath after all that has happened in the past few weeks! Once again the team have to regain their focus for yet another game, this time away to Newcastle United at St James Park.

The Magpies subsided to an eventual  4-1 hammering away to Manchester United, despite taking the lead, in their Boxing day game.

You would expect some sort of response from them tomorrow, especially as they are at home and have a very good recent record at St James Park. However the Blues will be confident of getting something from the game as the feel good factor surrounding the club continues.

Ancelotti’s tinkering brought an immediate impact and contributed mightily to the Toffees deserved if narrow, victory over Burnley on Thursday.

The Italian moving Djibril Sidibe into midfield, from where he supplied the cross for the winning goal, and giving Bernard a free role to come inside and link up with the forwards, worked very well.

Bernard playing in a more flexible and free role, is something I’ve personally advocated going forward as I feel he could be a really effective false nine type player.

It will be interesting to see whether Ancelotti makes any further changes for this match, something which seems likely to be the case given such a short turnaround in games. Tom Davies might well come into midfield alongside Gylfi Sigurdsson as Fabian Delph may well not be fit enough to play.

I would also like to see Moise Kean get a start in this match under his fellow Italian. The young lad needs some confidence shown in him and his future at the club, perhaps Ancelotti will give him a chance. Again the short time between matches and injuries might well also mean he gets it.

Everton haven’t travelled well at all for a long time and their recent record at Newcastle isn’t great either.

I’ve said many times before I don’t like making predictions but I have a positive feeling though that tomorrow we can maintain the solid recent form, both under Duncan Ferguson and now Ancelotti.
