One of the ongoing issues surrounding player comings and goings this summer, is whether Everton should make Djibril Sidibe’s loan deal permanent.
So should Everton consider signing Sidibe long-term or consider bringing back Jonjo Kenny from his spell in Germany?
Sidibe has had a mixed season this term for the Blues since joining the club from Monaco on loan in the summer.
While his attacking flare has at times been very influential creating some important goals for the Blues, too often his defensive frailties have also been on display for all to see.
So as the club’s hierarchy considers whether to go ahead and make his move permanent, one possible option to resolve the problem of who plays right-back, is currently having a fine season on loan himself in the German Bundesliga.
Jonjo Kenny a youth team product at Everton, went to Schalke 04 this summer for a season-long loan and has enjoyed a very solid campaign at the club under former Huddersfield Town manager David Wagner.
Kenny has been a strong and consistent all-round full-back for the German team and his displays have prompted the Bundesliga club to consider trying to sign him permanently.
I think the Blues should do everything they can to bring Kenny back this summer giving them the option of a player with the necessary defensive attributes at right-back at no cost, whilst also having the option of Sidibe’s attacking qualities in addition. This is particularly important given Seamus Coleman’s declining powers.
In other news Everton have also made it clear that young central defender Mason Holgate is not for sale this summer amidst rumours Manchester City are interested in him.

There are also more transfer stories concerning the Napoli centre-back Khalidou Koulbaly, who Everton were linked with in the January window after Carlo Ancelotti arrived.
According to these rumours the Italian club are ready to sell the Sengal international at a reduced price as he is apparently ready to move on.
The Toffees are being constantly linked with various central defenders. most of them younger than Koulbaly who is 28. The Senegal player is a very strong defender who is also a fine passer of the ball out from the back, something that is important for Ancelotti’s tactics.
Of course we will see who, if any of these prospective new defensive additions do end up on the club’s radar come the summer transfer window.
