Carlo Ancelotti has been itching to reunite with players he coached at Napoli. After months of speculations and a long list of Napoli players being linked with Everton, it seems Ancelotti will finally have his moment of joy. From Jose Callejon to Allan, almost every Napoli player has been touted to move to Goodison Park at least once since Carlo’s takeover.
According to journalist Niccolo Ceccarini via AreaNapoli, Everton is the most likely and desired destination for Allan. Carlo Ancelotti enjoyed Allan’s services at Stadio San Paolo and has been keen to bring him at Everton since taking over in December 2019. The 29 year old seems to be the perfect fit for Everton’s midfield.
Everton’s inconsistent midfield
Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Fabian Delph were signed for a combined sum of 32 million but none of them have performed as per expectations. Gbamin has largely been sidelined due to back to back long term injuires while Delph, lately, has encountered fitness problems of his own. Andre Gomes looked the perfect player to step into Idrissa Gana Gueye’s shoes and carry forward the Toffees midfield. However, a horrific injury put the Portuguese out of action for several months.

Morgan Schneiderlin isn’t a trusted option for the Italian manager while Tom Davies has only been able to impress in bits and pieces. The Everton midfield is a headache that needs to sort out before Ancelotti starts to feel the complications of it. Signing Allan might be the best way to put this problem to rest.
Reliable Brazilian
Allan has been an integral part of the midfield at Naples and has been superb for the Neapolitans. The Brazilian is at his A-game for eight years and has been one of the most consistent performers for the team. The midfielder also possesses some great on the ball skills which is key to Ancelotti’s team. Despite having a slightly off 2019-20 season due to minor injuries; he has remained injury free for a large part of his career.
Allan at 29 gives a good reason for Everton to believe in this project. He has the experience under the belt to succeed at the highest level. Allan’s productivity and intent goes unquestioned while the perk of understanding Ancelotti’s style is an added benefit. The Brazilian’s inclusion gives Toffees the much needed stability and reliance in the middle.
