Everton eyeing deal for Ligue 1 starlet
The problems at the right side for Everton are clearly visible. Theo Walcott has done an underwhelming job and Carlo Ancelotti is keen to improve on the resources he has at the right flank. The club board have identified Ligue 1 starlet Denis Bouanga as one of the possible targets.
The wide right side of attack has been Everton’s Achilles heel all season long. Theo Walcott has heavily underperformed. Alex Iwobi looks incompatible and lost on the right flank. Carlo Ancelotti has run out of options, so much so that he had to use right back Djibril Sidibe in the wide right midfield position. In fact, Sidibe was the most successful player in papering the cracks and works as the best possible option until the season end. It is no secret that the Toffees need a talented and pacey player in the wide right midfield position.
There have been numerous whispers about Adam Marusic of SS Lazio and Jose Callejon of Napoli joining the Toffees but none of the talks have intensified. The Merseysiders have another player on the shortlist and that is AS Saint. Etienne’s winger Denis Bouanga. According to Le10Sport, Everton is seriously considering making a bid for the Gabon international.

St.Etienne has already received a £10.7 million bid from Stade Rennais for the 25 year old but the French club is holding out to their valuation of £13.3 million. ASSE is also aware of Everton’s interest and are patiently waiting to see if the English Top Flight team comes with a bid that matches their valuation.
Denis Bouanga has had a brilliant first season with the Les Verts. Bouanga joined Etienne last season from Nimes and has become an instrumental player in the squad. His contribution of 10 goals and 3 assists in 26 Ligue 1 games was crucial in ASSE’s fight for survival as they just escaped the relegation by wafer-thin margins.
Denis Bouanga could be tempted to follow his countrymate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s path of joining a Premier League team. But, for that to happen, Everton may need to go on a bidding war with Rennais. Bouanga gives a good shout; he is extremely talented and has the potential to get better if he is given a better environment to blossom. The facilities at Finch Farm coupled with the counsel of three times Champions League winning coach is one of the best ecosystems a player can ask for.
What do you think, should we proceed to sign Denis Bouanga?
