Everton has submitted a €22 million offer for Jean-Clair Todibo to Barcelona.

Over the course of two years, Everton and Barcelona have formed a very healthy business relationship with a number of Barcelona players being sold to Everton. During the 2018 summer transfer window, Everton bought two of the Barcelona outcasts and acquired another Barca player on loan. Yerry Mina first arrived for €30 million followed by Lucas Digne for €20 million. The Catalan club was desperate to get rid of Andre Gomes and the Toffees once again chipped in with a loan deal.

All these players were of no use to Barcelona but proved to be as worthy as gold for the Toffees. Lucas Digne is one of the best left backs in the Premier League currently. Yerry Mina has performed from time to time. Gomes’ loan spell turned out to be pretty fruitful resulting in permanent signing by the Merseyside club for €25 million in 2019.

Everton have once again turned their attention to another Barcelona player, Jean-Clair Todibo. The defender is one of the brightest prospects and is a wanted man at Goodison Park. The Barca defender is currently on loan at Schalke till the end of the season. The loan deal also consisted of an option to buy but since the Meister der Herzen hasn’t activated the buy-out clause, the market was wide open for Todibo.

The Premier League outfit enquired about the French centre back earlier during the forced off season and were ready to pay €20 million for the young centre back. However, the Catalan club refused to listen to any offers below €25 million. According to Spanish media outlet Sport, The Toffees have come back with a €22 million plus add-ons offer for Jean-Clair Todibo.

Todibo has found life tough at Barcelona, especially under former coach Ernesto Valverde but has shown a glimpse of his true and vast potential at the Veltins Arena. The Merseyside club views the Frenchman as a perfect replacement to Yerry Mina who hasn’t had the best time at Goodison Park. Recurring injuries has troubled him and affected the team balance as well. The Colombian isn’t a bad defender but if the Toffees can sign Jean-Clair Todibo for a price in the region of €25 million, it will be a huge steal.
