Everton are interested in signing Patrik Schick from AS Roma but will only move forward if Moise Kean departs from Goodison Park.

Moise Kean was signed last summer by Everton for £27.5 million from Juventus. The Toffees had high hopes from the youngster, that he would replicate the stats and performances of their former hero Romelu Lukaku. Evertonians named him the next Lukaku but almost one year since the signing, the 20 year old has failed to settle in the intense Premier League. First under Marco Silva then under Duncan Ferguson and now under Ancelotti, Moise Kean looks a shadow of the talent he was promised to be. In 22 Top Flight games clocking 674 minutes, the Italian has managed only 1 goal, a very poor return for a significant investment.

However, being unsettled is solely not the reason for Kean’s lacklustre performances. A weird substitution episode with interim manager Duncan Ferguson had also disrupted his confidence. In December, during a match against Manchester United, Kean was brought on for Bernard. However, just 18 minutes later, Ferguson substituted Kean out of the game which was a big blow to the Italian. The manager later explained that he did so just to kill off some time but on Kean’s part, his spirit took a lot of damage.

It was later that Ferguson gave the real reason for the bizarre substitution stating that the newly arrived striker was ‘killing the speed of the game’. Ever since reports have been circulating that Moise Kean wants to put an end to his time at Finch Farm and move away from England. Interestingly, AS Roma are said to be keen on offering the 20 year old an escape route back to his motherland, Italy.

This is where the plot gets attention-grabbing. According to Gazzetta, Everton have entered the race to sign Roma striker Patrik Schick who is on loan at RB Leipzig. Die Roten Bullen had an option to make the loan deal permanent by either paying £21.5 million upfront or paying £13 million in two instalments. With that option only valid till 15th June, it is clear Leipzig won’t be signing the Czech International.

AS Roma are willing to cash in on the Patrik Schick, who has scored 10 goals in 14 starts during his loan spell at Red Bull Arena. With Schick available on the market, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United also remain interested. Giallorossi needs to sell Schick as they are in the midst of a dire financial situation. However, their interest in Moise Kean also remains high, so a swap deal or a player plus cash deal between Everton and Roma shouldn’t be discarded.

For Everton, Patrik Schick is a better bet than Moise Kean. The Czech has better physical structure to counter Premier League’s physicality and intensity. The 24 year old has proven that he is a far better goal scorer than Kean. Schick will also be intimidated to move to the Premier League and continue hi progress under Carlo Ancelotti.
