Everton have been offered Philippe Coutinho by Barcelona.

Since Farhad Moshiri took over Everton in 2016, his vision and aspirations have been clear for the club. He wants to make Toffees strong enough to compete with the likes of the top six in the Premier League. The businessman wants to see the Toffees competing in the Champions League and has pumped a serious amount of money in the club.

Unlike Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley, Moshiri has not shied away from flexing the financial muscle from time to time, which has enabled the club to spend millions in the transfer market to form a perfect team. Sadly, Everton still lacks in areas which is restricting them to mid table finishes. Farhad Moshiri and Marcel Brands, the technical director of Football, have been searching for a marquee player who can become an identity of Everton. With Carlo Ancelotti’s arrival at Goodison Park, the Toffees fans are optimistic that the process to take Everton at the top of Premier League football has kick started.

According to the Mirror, La Liga giants FC Barcelona have offered Philippe Coutinho to Everton on a one-year loan deal. The Brazilian superstar is linked to several other clubs like Newcastle United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur. In fact, a return to Liverpool is also not ruled out but the 28 year old has now been offered to Liverpool arch-rivals, Everton.

Philippe Coutinho has had a torrid time at Nou Camp with the Barcelona ace only finding some respite on loan at Bayern Munich. The officials at Barcelona are desperate to discard the 28 year old. It is also claimed that to ease the financial pressure, the Catalan side is also willing to pay one-third of Coutinho’s wages and the rest must be covered by the blues of Merseyside.

Coutinho’s agent Kia Joorabchian has good relations with owner Farhad Moshiri and this friendship could prove to be instrumental in brokering a deal and convincing an ex-Red to join the blue half of Merseyside.

Philippe Coutinho presents an option to be the marquee signing that the club board had been craving for. Carlo Ancelotti would be a happy man to finally see an upgrade of the attacking talent at the club. However, an ex-Liverpool man moving to Goodison Park on loan is guaranteed controversy. The Everton faithful may not accept Coutinho with open arms and the marquee signing could turn out to be millions down the drain.
