Everton No.10 Gylfi Sigurdsson could soon be on his way to Everton exit as the Toffees ramp up their pursuit of RB Salzburg youngster Dominik Szoboszlai.

Gylfi Sigurdsson transferred to Everton in the summer of 2017 for £45 million and was a part of the major rebuilding project under Ronald Koeman which saw the Dutch manager spend close to £150 million on transfers. The Icelandic proved to be much reliable than option than Davy Klaassen, playing 27 Premier League games, scoring 4 goals and providing 3 assists from attacking midfield position.

Sigurdsson largely played as a No.10 behind the striker and orchestrated the attack with fine accuracy. Marco Silva was the Toffees boss for the 2018-19 season, the managerial change saw Gylfi Sigurdsson maximize his productivity, playing all the 38 Top Flight games and in the process scoring 13 goals and assisting another 6.

However, the 30 year old has had a season to forget so far as a series of lacklustre performances have not impressed Carlo Ancelotti at all. In fact, the Italian boss gave one of the biggest surprises of the season by naming Anthony Gordon in the starting line up ahead of Gylfi Sigurdsson in the all feisty Merseyside derby.

The playmaker has played on the wings, as a No.10 behind the striker and even as a central midfielder, but the Icelandic has seriously underperformed. The club board are keen on offloading the 30 year old and have already begun operations in search of a new playmaker.

More from Prince Rupert's Tower

According to TuttoJuve, Everton want RB Salzburg sensation Dominik Szoboszlai. The 19 year old is having a delightful season at Stadion Wals-Siezenheim, notching 9 goals and assisting 13 so far this term. Dominik Szoboszlai is a wanted hot prospect in Europe with Juventus, Arsenal, Napoli, Borussia Dortmund and many others tracking him. The Hungarian could soon follow the path of former teammate Erling Braut Haaland to one of the top teams in Europe.

Everton might be taking a risk on Dominik Szoboszlai, considering his unproven talent elsewhere. However, they are planning for long term and with Gylfi Sigurdsson not getting any younger, Szoboszlai could be the one for the future. The 19 year old Salzburg startlet is a set piece specialist and the Toffees are a team known to capitalise from set-pieces especially free kicks. The Hungarian is rated at £25 million but could soon see his value skyrocket as the big fish encircle.
