Everton are ‘real suitors’ for AS Roma striker Patrik Schick.

Romelu Lukaku has been one of the most successful and prolific strikers for Everton in recent history. The Belgian forward scored 87 goals and provided 29 assists in 166 games at Goodison Park. Before a mega money move to Manchester United in 2017, Lukaku scored 25 goals for the Toffees in the preceding season and ended second on the golden boot list.

Despite getting a huge sum of £75 million, the Toffees failed to replace Lukaku due to poor decisions made by the board. Sandro Ramirez, Cenk Tosun, Yannick Bolasie, Oumar Niasse are just some of the names that proved to be incompetent. However, the emergence of Dominic Calvert-Lewin offered some respite but there’s no hiding the fact that work still needs to be done.

Moise Kean could have been considered a step forward when he signed in the summer of 2019 but the 20 year old has failed to settle in England. He has time on his side but Everton are running on borrowed time. However, there might be some good news as the Toffees have identified a potential Romelu Lukaku esque player in the market, Patrik Schick. The AS Roma forward is currently on loan at RB Leipzig and has been garnering praise for his steely performances.

The 24 year old has scored 10 goals and assisted another 2 in 22 Bundesliga games. Die Roten Bullen had the chance to make the signing permanent for £26 million but the date to exercise the clause has passed meaning the Czech international will return to Italy at the end of the season.

According to Corriere Dello Sport, Everton are the real suitors to sign Schick. The 24 year old does remind us about Romelu Lukaku. Both these sturdy strikers have a similar build and pretty much occupy the same spaces on the field.

Patrik Schick is one of the strongest headers of the ball and Lukaku also falls in the same league. Both these forwards heavily rely on crosses and long balls that they can attack with their heads. Patrik Schick also has the knack to muscle through the players using his 6 feet 1 inch frame and holds the ball pretty effectively. This was something we saw Romelu Lukaku do every week at Goodison Park.

Now the report also mentioned the interest from AC Milan and Newcastle United but Everton are said to be top contenders. The only thing to consider is what kind of deal will take place if it is going to take place.

Romans were said to been on Moise Kean but the interest seems to have faded. As for Everton, Patrik Schick seems to be a very viable option up front. He could team up front with Calvert-Lewin, pushing Richarlison wide in the 4-4-2. Schick’s addition is a guarantee of the much needed extra goals for the team as the goal onus currently falls on the shoulders of DCL and Richarlison.

How the 24 year old striker fits in the team is a different story altogether. Right now, Toffees’ main aim must be to strengthen the team and Schick provides a strong case to aid the development. Patrik Schick could finally be the Romelu Lukaku esque player we have been craving to see at Goodison Park.
