Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici has played down the talks of a transfer of Adrien Rabiot.

It’s been months since Everton were first linked with Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot. The former PSG man is said to be unhappy in Turin due to the lack of game time and is considering moving out after not being a regular starter under Maurizio Sarri. A number of stories have emerged with Juve wanting Everton fan favourite Lucas Digne in a swap deal, whether Rabiot is a good fit for Everton and most recently the rumours of a potential contact established with the French star.

While some of this may be true but the Toffees haven’t reached any substantial agreement neither with the Old Lady nor with Rabiot. Manchester United are also in the mix to sign the 25 year old but he’s not their priority.

Carlo Ancelotti loves Rabiot because of his tremendous potential. It is a different thing that the midfielder has not fulfilled the expectations yet mainly due to his commitment issues. But, the former PSG coach is still keen to bring his former pupil to Goodison Park with a hope that Rabiot will finally bring his career on the right track.

However, Ancelotti’s wishes may not be completed anytime soon as Juventus Sporting director Fabio Paratici has hinted that Rabiot won’t be leaving Turin anytime soon. He has also insisted that the snail speed start to his Juventus career isn’t an indication that Rabiot is a misfit.

"Let’s not forget that Rabiot is in his first year in Italy, and the first year is always special. At the start of the season, we could see the same doubts over Matthijs de Ligt, who happened to be the best defender in the Champions League [with Ajax last season] at the age of 19. Now I see there is a different opinion of him.Rabiot also arrived from PSG after six months of inactivity. He had to catch up with his physical condition. That said, he is a great player, someone who is very important for Juventus today and will be for the future. (via Sky Sport Italia)"

This will be a huge shock to Everton as they were eager to sign Adrien Rabiot even if it meant to push the wage budget to absolute extremes. Meanwhile, at the Allianz Stadium, the Serie A giants are running away with another Scudetto this term.

There’s no question that the Old Lady are a dominant force but the Italian heavyweights will soon be looking at a big transition of the squad. Juan Cuadrado, Gonzalo Higuain, Blaise Matuidi, Sami Khedira, Miralem Pjanic, Giorgio Chiellini, Leonardo Bonucci are all over the age of 30 and will eventually either leave Juve or retire. Especially the midfield majors Khedira, Pjanic and Matuidi who are said to be the preferred trio are on the wrong side of 30 and are expected to leave.

So, Paratici’s statement isn’t wrong when he says it is Rabiot’s first year and still has a lot to give. A little bit of patience from the 25 year old will benefit him a lot and in the next couple of years he could become a major player in the Old Lady midfield.

Even though it remains to be seen where he reignites his desire to succeed at the top level or not but for now the chances of Juventus selling Adrien Rabiot to Everton look grim.
