Everton has sent scouts to Germany to observe Leon Bailey of Bayer Leverkusen.
Bayer Leverkusen players have been a target for the big fishes of the Premier League for long. Most recently, Kai Havertz is the name that remains associated with Chelsea as Frank Lampard’s transfer splurge continues.
However, this time it’s Havertz’s teammate Leon Bailey who is stealing the headlines. According to Sky Sports, the Jamaican winger is keen to test himself in the Premier League and is open to a move to England in the summer transfer window. Everton are aware of Bailey’s interest in a switch to England and have sent scouts to observe the 22 year old in the DfB Pokal final that is scheduled to take place on Saturday between Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen.
Everton aren’t the only team keeping tabs on Leon Bailey as scouts from Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City will also be present at the final. The Jamaican has been a terrific signing for Leverkusen since his switch his switch from Genk. The winger has scored 7 goals and created 3 in 30 games this term but these numbers do not reflect the impact he has had on the team.

His demonic speed makes him a constant threat to the opposition defence and has kept the opposition defenders on their toes in every game. Much of the attacking freedom that Leverkusen generates up top is due to Bailey. His ability to take on defenders is one of the strongest traits he has which will be handy for any team he goes to.
So, should Everton try and sign Leon Bailey? Definitely Yes. The 22 year old has proven that he is capable of menacing and bossing defences in Germany and now might be the right time to make the switch. Now most of the times he plies his trade as a left winger but being a left footed player, he would be an ideal match for the right wing.
The winger was rated at £60 million by the Germans but that was the pre pandemic era and with finances taking a fall, it is very
unrealistic that nay club will want to match that asking price. So a talent like Leon Bailey may be available in the region of £30 million which wouldn’t hurt the Everton accounts.
Marcel Brands and Carlo Ancelotti want to convert Farhad Moshiri’s dream into reality and Leo Bailey may be a strong step into injecting the hunger into the club that has just seen their neighbors celebrate their first ever League title. However, it will be tough to convince Bailey as the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United remain interested.
