Everton target Bouna Sarr has ruled out a move to Premier League.

Marseille right back Bouna Sarr has been a target for multiple Premier League sides. Everton and West Ham were the most linked teams but recent statements from Sarr have put a dent on the hopes of both the teams to land the tight back.

Bouna Sarr joined Marseille in 2015 from Metz and since then has been an integral part of the squad. Les Olympiens managed to finish second in Ligue 1 this term, ensuring their qualification in Champions League group stage for first time since 2013-14 season.

Sarr, speaking to La Provence, ruled out a move away from Marseille insisting he’s happy in France and wants to play in the Champions League. The 28 year old has never played in Champions League and is excited to play in the prestigious competition for the first time.

"I still have two years left (on my deal). We will have to see how the market will work, if there are opportunities, but I’m not obsessed with leaving. For once, we will be playing in the Champions League – I really want to discover that here. Besides that, I’m coming to an age where opportunities will become more scarce. I do not think you can force me to leave. I’m happy to be at OM."

Neither Everton nor West Ham can offer Sarr a Champions League football. He has two years left on his current deal and by next year he will be 29. The Toffees need a dynamic and young right back to succeed Seamus Coleman. Bouna Sarr could be a good option right now, considering he’s available at £9 million, however, he is not a priority target for Marcel Barnds and the club management.

His versatility to play anywhere on the right flank will be beneficial to any team but the French man stands firm on his decision to continue in France. As for Andres Villas-Boas, he will be delighted to have an experienced man in the team when the club begins their journey in Champions League football.

Everton fans need not worry that much as the right back is not a position of immediate concern. Coleman is doing a fine job and Jonjoe Kenny is about to return to Goodison Park for next season after his loan spell at Schalke 04.
