Besiktas have entered the race to sign Cenk Tosun from Everton amid Fenerbache interest.

A few of days ago, a major story broke out when Marcel Brands and Fenerbache sporting director Emre Belozoglu held a zoom meeting to discuss a possible transfer of Cenk Tosun to Turkey. The names of Bernard and Yerry Mina were also discussed but Tosun was the main agenda. Now, another Turkish giant Besiktas also want the services of Cenk Tosun, making it a two way transfer battle.

In fact, the 29 year old was a mainstay in the Besiktas attack before switching the Super Lig for the English Top Flight in January 2018. Tosun has amassed 142 appearances for Kara Kartallar, scoring 66 times. However, the £27 million rated man has failed to replicate those numbers in England, forcing Everton to rethink about their strategy with Tosun.

The striker is currently out of action as he recovers from a knee injury that he picked up whilst he was on loan at Crystal Palace. As we enter the business end of the season, Everton has started aggressively planning for the gigantic overhaul for the summer. Obviously, the rebuild will happen in multiple stages but selling the deadwood will be the inaugural stage in the mega rebuild that the club is planning under Brands and Carlo Ancelotti.

The Italian boss has already told Cenk Tosun that he is not in next season’s plans, leaving the Turk to sort his future elsewhere. However, the interest from Fenerbache and Besiktas is welcome news to Tosun’s ears.

According to Turkish newspaper Fotomac, Besiktas President Ahmet Nur Cebi is keen to bring Cenk Tosun back to Vodafone Park next season. Nur Cebi wants to personally talk with the 29 year old and convince him to return to Besiktas.

Fenerbache sporting director Belozoglu is also confident of convincing Tosun in Fenerbache’s sporting project. With both the Turkish giants having a firm interest in the striker, it is now upto the player to select the side. One thing is for sure, Tosun doesn’t have a future at Goodison Park.

He is desperate to play regular first team football and both the Super Lig teams are ready to offer that. Besiktas and Fenerbache have similar goals as well, to mount a serious challenge for the league title and Tosun would be the key player for both the sides. A move will be made this summer for sure, as Tosun wants to solidify his place in Turkey national team ahead of Euro 2021, the only question is where does he go?
