Tottenham Hotspur has been given 48 hours to submit a bid for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg or Southampton will proceed with Everton.
Earlier today news broke that Everton have tabled a £20 million offer which could go to £25 million based on add ons. Southampton had initially rejected the first bid of £18 million as the Saints hierarchy stands firm on their valuation of £35 million. Tottenham Hotspur are still keen on signing the Denmark international from Premier League rivals but are still to launch a bid.
Jose Mourinho’s Spurs have been admirers of Hojbjerg but no concrete steps have been taken by Daniel Levy to bring the 24 year old to North London. The financial state of Spurs is precarious and to reduce the transfer fee, Tottenham are pushing for a player plus cash deal with Kyle Walker-Peters going in the opposite direction.
The young full back is on loan at the South Coast club and even though the Saints are impressed by 23 year old, they want straight cash for wantaway star Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. Meanwhile, Everton hasn’t been lazy and have already launched two bids for the Dane, showing their eagerness to land the midfielder.
Even though Southampton are holding out on their £35 million, reports suggest they will be forced to soften their stance as Hojbjerg has only one year left on his contract. Marcel Brands has played a master stroke by tabling a second offer in less than a week, giving clear indication of Toffees’ intentions.

According to the Express, Tottenham Hotspur have been given 48 hours to react to Everton’s bid and table a better offer or else Southampton will begin negotiations with Everton. This will be huge good news for the Merseysiders who will have an upper hand on the negotiations bench when compared to Spurs.
Even though Spurs is the first choice of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, seeing the enthusiasm of Everton, the Denmark International may lean towards a move to Goodison Park where he could be the key cog in Ancelotti’s midfield.
Saints are keen to get the transfer done as soon as possible and as of now Everton may have an upper hand. However, the South Coast side may be playing a smart trick by giving Tottenham an ultimatum to spar a transfer bidding war between Everton and Tottenham.
Whatever it is, the next 48 hours will be crucial and if Tottenham Hotspur manage to submit a bid, the Toffees won’t shy away from submitting a better bid to lure Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
