Southampton had initially rejected the first bid of £18 million as the Saints hierarchy stands firm on their valuation of £35 million. Tottenham Hotspur are still keen on signing the Denmark international from Premier League rivals but are still to launch a bid.

Jose Mourinho’s Spurs have been admirers of Hojbjerg but no concrete steps have been taken by Daniel Levy to bring the 24 year old to North London.
