Steven Gerrard’s striker sale can benefit Everton massively
The goals of Alfredo Morelos has propelled Rangers. Now, Everton need them.
Alfredo Morelos would boost Everton’s slumping attack, which has scored 43 times in 37 matches and been blanked 10 times and scored three in a match only four times. The Rangers striker has been linked to Everton and Lazio.
In 2018-19, the total was 54, Glasgow Rangers’ striker Alfredo Morelos could provide more goals as well as some tactical versatility for Carlo Ancelotti’s side. In 26 Scottish Premiership matches, the Colombian has scored 12 goals. Everton’s leading scorers Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison have scored 13 times each. Both have also played 35 times.
Rangers’ manager Steven Gerrard let slip that it might be hard to keep Morelos in Scotland if the right bid comes in via Daily Record. Current reports indicate that price maybe around 12 million pounds as a result of the Covid-19 virus. A fee that should be well within Toffees’ reach.
However, there is a concern about Morelos’ penchant for getting sent off. In 2018-19, he saw red five times. Former ‘Gers’ star Alan Hutton told Football Insider.
He believed Morelos would thrive under Ancelotti.

"I think with his character that’s what you need, you need a manager that’s going to keep him in line, make him understand how he wants him to work and where he wants him to be at what time of the day. He doesn’t seem like that kind of player that you can let him get away with it, you need someone on top of him to get the best out of him."
Plus if controlled that little bit of an edge, Alfredo Morelos brings could be an asset. The presence of fellow Colombian Yerry Mina could help as well.
Where would he play? It depends on the formation, Ancelotti prefers.
So far this season, he has used a 4-4-2 with Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin upfront. Ancelotti has acknowledged Richarlison can play on the left or the right and be effective. That would put Morelos and DCL upfront. If Ancelotti were to go to a 4-3-3, all three could play upfront or in a 4-2-3-1, Morelos could play up front with Richarlison on the right and DCL on the left.
All three permutations would provide problems for any back four.
Morelos would provide a hat-trick of ‘Gers’ forwards to recently join Everton with Steven Naismith and Nickica Jelavic providing goals at key moments for the Royal Blues.
If this transfer happens former Liverpool standout Steven Gerrard could provide Everton with more help than a hat-trick of own goals in a Merseyside Derby.
