With the end of 2019-20 season, Everton loanees return and here’s a look at what they did while away.

Everton sent Jonas Lossl, Kieran Dowell, Matthew Pennington, Shani Tarashaj, Yannick Bolasie, Muhamed Besic, Sandro Ramirez, Jonjoe Kenny and Cenk Tosun on loan. The futures of most of these players remains up in the air and are likely to face the axe as Everton begin their mega overhaul.

Jonas Lossl

Jonas Lossl rejoined his former club Huddersfield Town on loan in the January window. The 31-year-old Danish international turned in a pretty solid job for the Terriers. He appeared in 15 matches and had six clean sheets to help the Terriers stay in the Championship. In comparison, Jordan Pickford had nine clean sheets in 38 games. Lossl will return to Everton and probably be given every opportunity to unseat Pickford as the first-choice ‘keeper.

Kieran Dowell

The 22-year-old attacking midfielder had great things predicted for him. However, a series of loan didn’t seem to help him. After his loan spell at Derby ended in January of 2020, he joined Wigan on loan the same month He made 12 appearances for Wigan after making 10 for Derby.

In his last eight matches for Wigan, he flashed the talent that had excited Evertonians as he scored five goals (including a hat-trick in an 8-0 thrashing of Hull.) With a 12-point deduction for going into administration, Wigan was relegated to League One. Kieran Dowell has one year left on his Everton deal and even with the issues with Everton’s midfield his future is unsure.
