Everton can look into signing Emerson Palmieri from Chelsea if Ben Chilwell is signed.

Chelsea have been on a spending spree despite the football clubs facing major curtailments in transfer budgets. Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech have already arrived at Stamford Bridge but the Frank Lampard regime is pushing for more arrivals, now mainly concentrating on the defence. Ben Chilwell of Leicester City is a prime defensive target and if the left back arrives, Everton may think of offering Emerson Palmieri a way out of Chelsea.

Numerous reports have confirmed Blues’ interest in Ben Chilwell. The London based outfit are keen to bolster their options at the left back and Leicester City left back certainly suits the profile they need. According to the Goal, Chelsea are prioritizing Ben Chilwell this summer transfer window.

Even though the Blues have a shortlist consisting of Marc Cucurella and Nicolas Tagliafico if they miss out on Chilwell, it is not going to be easy for the Foxes to turn down Chelsea. However, Lampard’s side is willing to offload their current crop of left backs to generate funds and create space for new arrivals.

Marcos Alonso and Emerson have been told that they are free to go. Everton must look into signing Emerson from Chelsea as a back up to Lucas Digne. Leighton Baines retired after spending 13 years at Goodison Park leaving a spot to fill. Now Baines was not the first choice left back but still a replacement is needed and Emerson could be the man.

The Italian is contracted at Chelsea till 2022 but with the Blues open to selling him, Everton must jump into the race. Inter Milan are already eyeing a move but the temptation to stay in the world’s best league may persuade Emerson to try his luck once again, albeit this time at Everton.

The 25 year old is sharp as a knife when it comes to attacking flair and adds a lot of dynamism to any team. Everton have lacked energy and creativity at times which Emerson can supply whenever he’s given a chance.

Lucas Digne will no doubt be the first choice left back but having Emerson in the mix will enhance the quality and also give time to Digne to recuperate during the intense congested fixtures.

The Italian may be available for around £15 million, which is a good investment for a 25 year old. Emerson may not have been able to instate himself as a Chelsea favourite, but he surely has the quality and potential to succeed in the Premier League.
