Free agents Joe Hart and Nathaniel Clyne can add depth and competition to the goalkeeping and right back position respectively at Everton.

4. Joe Hart

The English goalkeeper left Burnley in July 2020 and is plotting his next career move. Hart was signed as a cover for Nick Pope when the Englishman was out injured and the former Manchester City man did an awesome job between the posts.

However, after Pope’s return to footballing action, it was slim pickings for Joe Hart as he was restricted to just 3 appearances all season. Everton are possibly looking to sign a keeper as well who can provide competition to Jordan Pickford who has become complacent and has often made errors during a game.

Sergio Romero is a keeper, Everton were linked to but in a transfer window where the Toffees need to be as stringent as possible signing Hart on a free transfer should be a priority. The 33 year old has shown that he still has the ability to perform at the top and at 33 can still go on to play for a couple of years.

5. Nathaniel Clyne

The 29 year old is without a club after being released by Liverpool at the end of this season. Clyne has found it difficult to book a place in the Reds starting eleven after the emergence of Trent Alexander-Arnold. A loan move to Bournemouth in later part of the 2019-20 season did help Clyne to clock some minutes and was fairly impressive at the right back.

Everton are planning to sign a right back as well to provide cover for Seamus Coleman. Jonjoe Kenny’s future remains uncertain and having Clyne as a backup will sort the right back position for some time, at least.

There are rumours of Max Aarons being a transfer target but with other teams scrambling as well for the 20 year old, Everton may be overambitious of landing him. Instead, Nathaniel Clyne presents a solid option.
