Everton must look into signing Lucas Vazquez from Real Madrid.

The right wing remains a position that needs surgery and the current options aren’t competent enough. In fact, apart from Theo Walcott, Everton have lacked an outright right winger. Signing a right wide man will be on the priority list of Carlo Ancelotti. The Italian should consider raiding his former club Real Madrid and sign Lucas Vazquez.

The failures of Alex Iwobi and Walcott have forced Ancelotti to aggressively experiment with the squad and find a temporary solution. After deploying as many as 8 players and failing at every instance, Ancelotti understands that failing to secure a hardworking and skilled winger will result in a bigger mishap than this season.

According to a report from Edu Pidal of Onda Cero’s El Transistor, Real Madrid are not keen to offer a new contract. The 29 year old’s current deal runs till the summer of 2021. Furthermore, Lucas Vazquez is free to sort is future elsewhere and will be given the green light to move away from the Santiago Bernabeu.

Los Blancos are filled with exceptional talent at the front. A combination of exuberant youth and experienced personnel is making life difficult for Vazquez. Eden Hazard, Marcos Asensio, Rodrygo, Vinicius Junior and Isco have all made regular outings on either flanks leaving Vazquez without much game time this season.

Two calf injuries and a fractured toe saw the winger spend a significant time of the season on the treatment table, not helping his cause either. Even though Lucas Vazquez has indicated that he would like to retire at Madrid and is happy with whatever role Zinedine Zidane gives him, the Spaniard may have to think realistically of a transfer if he doesn’t want to waste his prime years on the bench at Real.

Real Madrid are raising funds to sanction a deal to sign Kylian Mbappe in 2021 and selling Vazquez will help them in their endeavour. With Los Blancos open to selling Vazquez, Everton and Marcel Brands must ponder upon signing the Spaniard.

Dubbed as Zidane’s saviour as he often sends the 29 year old into the game to make a game-changing impact and Vazquez frequently delivers, Everton would be a perfect destination for him.

The player is known to tightly work around the right flank, often opening passing channels and releasing strikers with delicious through balls.

The winger is excellent at combination play and executes one-twos with charming ease. Lucas Vazquez is a hard worker on and off the ball and will commit himself even on the defensive side of the game. His pinpoint crosses can help Everton dominate in the air as the heads of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison are always lurking in the opposition goal area.

Lucas Vazquez is a reliable and an economic option for the Toffees. With just one year left on his deal, Everton can take him away for a bargain fee of £15 million which is extremely affordable compared to other targets’ fees.
