Everton re-enter the transfer race to sign 15 goal attacker

Everton are still in the race to sign Everton Soares from Gremio.

‘Everton sign Everton’ will be a comical headline and with the looks of it, this could soon be reality. The Toffees are on the hunt for a forward and Everton Soares of Gremio certainly suits the profile. The Toffees rely heavily on Richarlison and Dominic Calver-Lewin for goals with not much support coming from the rest of the attackers, scoring just 44 goals in the league. Everton Soares could be the outlet for goals Everton are lacking.

The Merseyside club were linked to the Brazilian sensation but the interest had somewhat died down recently as per some reports. However, A Bola (via Sport Witness) has confirmed that Marcel Brands remain interested in bringing the 24 year old to Goodison Park.

The Brazilian will cost €25 million, a very modest fee for one of the most promising stars. Liga NOS giants Benfica are also said to be in the race but a Premier League move is likely to gain Everton Soares’ attention more.

The Brazilian is skilled enough to play as a left or right winger and even as a centre forward, offering Carlo Ancelotti plenty of options. The report goes onto say that Ancelotti is fond of the player and despite Benfica being the current favorites to sign the 24 year old, a hijack move to Merseyside cannot be ruled out.

Soares has the Brazilian trait of exceptional dribbling skills and taking on defenders for fun. The Gremio star is never shy of taking shots on goal and can be termed as a ‘volume shooter’. The 2018-19 season saw him score 15 goals and provide 7 assists in 42 games, proving how involved he is in Gremio’s attack.

He is the complete package that the Royal Blues want. A player who can threaten the opposition defence and take away some of the goalscoring pressure from DCL and Richarlison. Compatriots Ricahrlison and Bernard can help Soares gel at Goodison Park and make his transition easier.

People say he is reminiscent of Neymar and loves to exploit every inch of the left wing. His dynamism will be a welcome trait to a shoddy and lethargic Everton team. At €25 million he is cheaper than other targets like Jeremie Boga and Cengiz Under with similar credentials, so it won’t be much of a surprise if Marcel Brands signs Everton Soares this summer.
