Everton get highly encouraging Gabriel Magalhaes news as Manchester United shift focus to Benoit Badiashile.
The Gabriel Magalhaes transfer saga has seen some of the biggest turns and twists with the LOSC Lille defender yet to finalize a transfer. The latest news was that the representatives of the player were in England to hold talks with Manchester United and Everton. The Toffees beating United to sign the Brazilian looked a bit over-ambitious but now it may soon be a reality.
The entire saga began early in 2020 when Gabriel passed a medical at Finch Farm and a fee of £22 million was agreed with Lille. Then came the Corona Virus pandemic and the football club finances plummeted. The Toffees wanted to renegotiate the fees but Les Douges were not ready.
As a result, the deal fell through and Gabriel was now a sitting sheep in a market of tigers. Clubs pounced for his signature. Napoli, Inter and Manchester United joined Everton in the chase.
At one point, there were five teams battling for Gabriel Magalhaes. After Napoli were said to be out of the race, the Royal Blues and Manchester United were said to be the frontrunners. Now ideally, beating Manchester United to a signing is impeccably tough but it seems like the Merseysiders may now have an upper hand as they get some encouraging Gabriel news.
A few days ago, the Sky reported that the 22 year old’s entourage was in the UK discussing a deal with Everton and Manchester United. It looks like Manchester United may miss out on the Lille defender. As per Mirror, the Red Devils have started negotiations with AS Monaco defender Benoit Badiashile.
Manchester United shifting their focus from Gabriel Magalhaes to Badiashile is an indication that they may have lost out on signing the Brazilian. Both the players have similar profiles and signing both would be illogical.

Just like Gabriel, Benoit Badiashile is also left foot-footed, young and has huge potential. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has given his green light to the Frenchman as United currently finalize a transfer fee with AS Monaco.
This is encouraging news for Brands and the Toffees, with Manchester United focusing on Badiashile, the Royal Blues are clear to pursue Gabriel Magalhaes.
Lille president indicated that the Brazilian will choose his next club in a week and perhaps he may have already chosen Everton as his next destination.
