Everton: 5 right backs Everton can target in this transfer window
Everton may also eye Max Aarons and Kenny Tete.
4. Max Aarons
Norwich City were relegated at the end of the season and even though the Canaries failed as a unit, many sparkled individually. One of them was 20 year old right back Max Aarons. The Englishman may be on his way out of Carrow Road especially after Norwich’s demotion to the Championship.
Despite being 20, calmness flows through his veins and seldom makes poor decisions in the heat of the moment. Max Aarons started most number of Premier League games for Norwich, an indication that he remains consistent and fairly injury free.
He is an excellent ball carrier and carries the ball with some pace to swiftly turn defence into attack. This particular trait of him will make him a huge success at Everton, as Ancelotti has instilled a direct possession based approach.
Bayern Munich are said to be open to paying £18 million for Aarons and there is no reason why Everton can’t match that figure. Perhaps for Aarons, remaining in England would be a step in the right direction instead of taking a voyage to Germany.
5. Kenny Tete
The Dutch right back previously caught the eye of Carlo Ancelotti back in the day when the Italian was the manager at Bayern Munich. The Italian wanted to have Kenny Tete at Allianz Arena but a move never materialized. Now, Ancelotti may finally have his man, although, this time at Goodison Park.
The Olympique Lyon man is fighting for a place with his colleagues Lee Dubois and Rafael. Dubois seems to be winning the battle at the moment which may hurt Kenny Tete’s wishes. The 23 year old is about to reach his prime and regular football would be a modest demand that Lyon may not be able to deliver but Everton can.
The Dutchman’s contract expires in summer 2021 alongside Memphis Depay. A dual Dutch signing cannot be ruled out as Depay also continues to think about his future. In Kenny Tete the Royal Blues get a physical, brave and aggressive package. He is not the quickest player in the team but compensates for his slowness with the defensive solidity he provides.
