Ismaila Sarr often touted as the ‘next Sadio Mane’ is put up for sale, Everton should try to sign him.

Watford succumbed to relegation after a close fight with AFC Bournemouth and Aston Villa on the last day of Premier League. With relegation confirmed, it was inevitable that the Hornets will not be able to sustain current costs and will have to make player sales. Ismaila Sarr, popularly called as the ‘next Sadio Mane’ has been put up for sale and clubs like Crystal Palace, Liverpool and Wolves are already lurking. I’d suggest Everton get involved and make a move.

It was February 29, 2020. Watford took on Liverpool in a tie that was supposed to be a cakewalk for the Reds. Liverpool were dreaming of an unbeaten title victory at that stage but what happened over the course of the next 90 minutes would not have been imagined even by Jurgen Klopp in his wildest of dreams.

The scoreline was 3-0 in favour of Watford and the man to be remembered was Ismaila Sarr. When the 22 year old arrived in England, his compatriot Sadio Mane helped him settle in the Premier League. In fact, Sarr is touted as the ‘next Sadio Mane’ back in Senegal and even by the Premier League fans. That same Ismaila Sarr singlehandedly crushed not only Mane’s hope but also Reds’ fans hope of winning the title unbeaten.

Ismaila Sarr will be remembered for his brace and an assist in that game. However, it has gone a bit downhill for Watford since then. The Hornets have been relegated and are now scrambling to find necessary finances to keep the club running. When you plummet from the Premier League to the Championship, you lose an insane amount of money via Brodcasters, Sponsorships and the league itself.

To bridge the gap between the running costs and influx of cash, player sales are carried out as it is the easiest way to generate funds. Watford have begun the firesale of their best and most promising players. Troy Deeney was offered to Tottenham Hotspur, Gerard Deulofeu is also thought to be put on the market.

More from Prince Rupert's Tower

According to the Daily Star, the Hornets have decided to sell Ismaila Sarr for £40 million to ease the financial burden. Liverpool, Crystal Palace and Wolves are already eyeing the Senegalese. Everton should also join the chase and throw everything possible to sign the speedster. Everton are in search of a right winger and Ismaila Sarr will fit the bill. Pacey, adept, young and amusing to watch. He ticks every box that Marcel Brands wants in an Everton right winger.  Sarr suits the profile of players that can instil the ‘hunger for success’ mentality at the club.

Ismaila Sarr has shown that he wants to reach the top and can evolve into a top rated winger at Goodison Park under Carlo Ancelotti.

As for the £40 million, he is one player I won’t mind breaking the bank for. Marcel Brands should do everything in his power to sign the Senegal international. If he does manage to fend off Liverpool and Palace to bring Ismaila Sarr to Everton, the £40 million will look a bargain in a few years’ time.

Should the Toffees try signing Ismaila Sarr?
