Reports are circulating again indicating that Everton are moving closer to completing the signing of the Brazil and Napoli midfielder Allan.
This transfer has been yet another of those seemingly endless, drawn out deals, that Everton seem to specialise in these days!
It’s been clear for a while, that Carlo Ancelotti has wanted to bring his former player Allan to Goodison Park, ever since he took over as Blues manager.
Snail-like the Toffees have been gradually inching closer to this transfer over a period of months but now it just might be getting closer to actually happening.
According to reports in the media today and over the past 24 hours or so, Everton are closing in on finalising the transfer of the 29-year-old. Supposedly it’s happening by the weekend..?
As always, I’m not sure whether to believe any of these reports. As usual it’s difficult to feel certain whether anything is ever happening with any of these endless stories about alledged deals for this player or that.
I previously wrote that I didn’t think that he would come to the Toffees, as I felt his fee and a probable desire to play European football, might scupper any deal. If I’m proved wrong that’s absolutely fine!
Allan would certainly be a step up in quality on the utterly mediocre existing options the Blues have in the centre of the park.
The Brazilian midfielder brings plenty of skills and would slot into the middle providing creativity and defensive strength alongside perhaps Andre Gomes, or maybe if he recovers from his injuries, Jean-Philippe Gbamin.

Allan is 29, so is perhaps not at his absolute peak and would not have any sell-on value, but it would certainly be a statement signing for Everton.
I also think that if this deal goes through and the Blues also secure Allan’s fellow-countryman Gabriel Magalhaes, (another player Ancelotti is very keen on), then I think it might represent a victory for Ancelotti over Marcel Brands in the struggle to control the club’s transfer strategy.
There have been rumours going the rounds that the two men are not in agreement over the players to bring in and the overall strategy behind it.
I’m not saying this conflict is definitely taking place, but it might be the reason why the club haven’t got any deals over the line yet.
Well we are still waiting for any confirmation from the club. Obviously, like most Evertonians, I won’t believe it until I see the player wearing that brand new Hummel royal blue shirt in front of the cameras at Goodison Park.
