Everton target James Rodriguez has admitted that he is open to a Premier League move.

The divorce between James Rodriguez and Real Madrid is to happen this summer. The Colombian is surplus to requirements and Zinadine Zidane has given a nod for his sale. With the Colobian ready to be sold, the playmaker has now hinted that he’ll be open to a move to Premier League giving a boost to Everton.

Real Madrid is trying to sell the 29 year old playmaker and have slashed their initial asking price. Earlier, the services of James Rodriguez would come with a price tag of £40 million which was further reduced to £20 million by virtue of COVID discount. Now the clearance sale has begun and Rodriguez is available for £7.7 million.

The low price tag should bode well with Everton and they will make an attempt to lure the Colombian to Goodison Park. After all, Carlo Ancelotti was the one to pick him at Real Madrid and turn him into an even bigger superstar. However, since then James’ journey hasn’t been rosy.

A turn of fortunes is needed and a move to Everton might just do the trick. Like a goldsmith, Ancelotti refined Rodriguez and got the best out of him at Bernabeu and can do the same at Goodison Park. James Rodriguez was linked with a cross city move to Atletico Madrid but that deal looks to be dead.

The Colombian is mulling over possible options and has admitted that he fancies a move to the Premier league. According to Le10 Sport, James Rodriguez appeared on Daniel Habif’s podcast and admitted that a move to England would be a ‘good thing’.

"I would like to know where I am going. It may take days or weeks before I know where I’m going. I really do not know. I want to go where I can play, where I am happy and where I feel loved everyone. It could be Italy, Spain, England, it’s a question I have and I still don’t know. I’ve been in several good leagues before and all that’s missing is Serie A and the Premier League, you have to see where I want to go or where they want me to go. Going to England would be a good thing, it’s a top league"

James played with AS Monaco in Ligue 1, featured for Bayern Munich in Germany and currently plies his trade with Real Madrid. Having played in three of Europe’s top five leagues, a move to the Premier League will be a welcome challenge. With the Royal Blues already linked, Marcel Brands may establish communication channels with the player’s entourage soon.

James at 29 has still a lot to give even if he doesn’t look in touch. The killer touch can be found again. James can regain the lost shape and be a marquee player in Everton’s mega overhaul.
