FC Barcelona is set to announce former Everton boss Ronald Koeman as their next manager.

You can make out from the writer’s thumbnail or my Twitter account (@parthjhaveri10) that I am a Barcelona fan. Seeing the club in shambles is painful and the measures being taken to revive the club from scratch is even more painful. Quique Setien was sacked after the 8-2 humiliation and frankly, that was coming. No one survives an 8-2 demolition unless you are Arsene Wenger.

Barcelona wants to replace Setien with Ronald Koeman and as someone who has followed Everton closely and watched the turmoil unfold when Koeman was the manager doesn’t give me encouraging signs about him. Ronald Koeman is an FC Barcelona legend who has Barcelona philosophy running in his veins.

He is by far the best manager Netherlands national team have got in years but there are certain warnings that need to be given by an Evertonian to Barcelona. I completely agree that Ronald Koeman has evolved since the reign at Everton and done a commendable job with the Dutch national team. However, things won’t be as easy at Barcelona as it were with the Dutch team.

At Barcelona he’ll be in the middle of a circus expected to deliver trophies every season but does he have the steel to remodel the squad and make them great again?
