Carlo Ancelotti may leave Everton to join PSG after Thomas Tuchel’s job has come under pressure.

PSG boss Thomas Tuchel has come under heavy firing from the press and reports are already circulating that the UEFA Champions League final could have been the last game managed by the German. If Tuchel does lose his job, will PSG make an attempt to lure Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti to Parc des Princes?

Carlo Ancelotti assumed office at PSG in December 2011 after Les Parisiens parted ways with Antoine Kombouare. The Italian was handed the job to orchestrate a title win. Performances did improve but Les Rouge et Bleu could only achieve runners up spot.

In his first full season, Carlo Ancelotti helped PSG win their first league title in 28 years in 2012-13 season. He took the Ligue 1 side to the UEFA Champions League quarter finals that year only to be eliminated by FC Barcelona in the quarter finals. The association ended on a sour note with Ancelotti demanding a release in order to take the job at Real Madrid.

Despite early objections from Nasser Al-Khelaifi, PSG finally agreed to let Ancelotti leave for Madrid. Fast forward 7 years, PSG managed to reach the Champions League final but failed to win it despite housing a world class squad.

According to a report from Spanish media outlet AS, PSG is considering the sack of Thomas Tuchel after his failure to deliver European success since taking the reins in 2018. The Paris club are the most dominant force in France. Winning domestic trophies is routine for them but the most coveted trophy remains a dream for the people of PSG.

The president of PSG, Al-Khelaifi, wants a coach that can deliver Champions League success. Clearly, Tuchel did take them to the final but not to the ultimate prize. A squad housing Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, Mauro Icardi, Angel Di Maria, Marquinhos and Keylor Navas is worthy of winning any tournament, yet the UCL trophy hasn’t touched the hands of PSG.

Carlo Ancelotti could be the man to deliver the big-eared trophy. He has engineered three Champions League triumphs, two with AC Milan and one with Real Madrid. He and Zinedine Zidane remain the only two managers in world football to win the UEFA Champions League thrice in their managerial careers, a momentous feat.

The Italian knows the secret recipe to win the UCL and I don’t see why PSG won’t make a ridiculous attempt to sign the 61 year old as the manager. The Daily Star reported that Carlo Ancelotti is growing frustrated by the lack of attention given to transfer strategies and failure to bring the necessary players at Everton.

At PSG, he will have a ludicrous amount of money to spend on with QSI’s (Qatar Sports Investment) endless pockets. He will have a star studded squad at his disposal and will not have to worry about the squad management challenges.

It will be worth considering for Ancelotti to leave Everton and move to PSG. The Italian has signed a big fat four and a half year contract but if things do not improve soon with Everton, Ancelotti may shift his focus elsewhere.

It is now an obligation for PSG to win the European cup as they enter the decade year of QSI era. The contracts of Neymar and Mbappe run till 2021 so winning the UCL is even more necessary next season. Les Parisiens have been efficacious in creating a squad worthy of winning the trophy but they still miss that finishing touch that can be provided by Carlo Ancelotti.
