Everton has missed out on Thiago Silva, Gabriel Magalhaes and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the transfer window and this can come back to haunt them.

Everton has missed out on some of the top transfer targets and it is just going to hurt them in the future. To see your top transfer priority joining the rival clubs is not a pretty sight for any fan and the Toffees army is frustrated that Marcel Brands and Carlo Ancelotti have failed to get the business done.

All we can see in the media is transfer rumours, Everton taking note of certain players and keeping an eye. It is understandable that Ancelotti wants to bring the best possible player to Goodison but they are taking too much time. Despite strongly been linked to a number of players, the success rate in getting the deal done is awfully low.

Here are three missed transfers that will hurt the Royal Blues:

1. Thiago Silva (Chelsea)

Thiago Silva was a long time Everton target who is now heading to Chelsea. Carlo Ancelotti was keen on reuniting with the Brazilian after a successful relationship between the duo at PSG. Thiago Silva was set to become a free agent after PSG announced they won’t be renewing his contract.

Everton were one of the first clubs to contact the player’s entourage and seek information. Meanwhile, they also let the player know about their desires to bring him to Goodison with Carlo Ancelotti personally making a phone call to the 36 year old.

Just a few days before the Champions League final, Thiago Silva was offered to Chelsea and the Blues started seriously considering the free agent. Fiorentina had already tabled a €4 million a year offer to Silva but Everton were nowhere close to even making a move despite showing admiration for the Brazilian.

As per reputable journalist Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have offered a two year deal to Thiago Silva and he is set to sign the contract soon and become the latest signing. The lack of swiftness to get the deal done has hurt the Toffees and is now set to miss out on one of the most experienced defenders in Europe.
