Everton target Odsonne Edouard is set to discuss his future with Celtic after their Champions League exit.

Scottish Premiership champions Celtic were recently knocked out in the UEFA Champions League by Ferencvaros in the second qualifying round bringing a premature end to their European journey. With Celtic’s exit, talisman Odsonne Edouard is set for crunch discussions on his future with the club. Everton has kept an eye on the Frenchman for a long time and now can jump into the battle to sign him.

Edouard’s agent, Lasana Koita, told Record Sport (via Daily Record), that his client is set to sit down with the representatives of Celtic to discuss his future. The 22 year old striker has two years left on his current deal but his rise in the last couple of seasons has opened the door to play in the top leagues of Europe, especially the Premier League.

"Odsonne is happy at Celtic and enjoys life in Scotland. He is disappointed with the result on Wednesday especially as he was injured and could not play. I think the goal was certainly to qualify for the Champions League. That is football. I will speak with him.It is not crucial for Odsonne to be playing in the Champions League but it is important. We are going to wait because there is still a target for Celtic. There’s the Europa League and to go for 10 titles. Ten titles is important for Odsonne. We don’t know what will happen. For now he is with Celtic. We don’t discuss with any other team for now."

Despite Koita’s statement of Odsonne Edouard being happy with Celtic as of now, things are still up in the air. Meanwhile, the striker remains out injured with a thigh knock and is a doubt for their league clash against Motherwell.

According to Daily Mail, Odsonne Edouard is set to be chased by four Premier League clubs after his future is up in the air following Celtic’s UCL exit. Everton, Leicester City, Newcastle United and Aston Villa are the interested parties. The Toffees have scouted Edouard for a while, sending their scouts to Scotland to watch the striker against FC Copenhagen and Kilmarnock back in March.

Carlo Ancelotti is extremely happy with the duo of Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin but there are whispers that the Italian manager may shift the Brazilian to the wings. The future of Moise Kean also remains in doubt with Juventus said to be plotting a sensational loan return to Turin.

Odsonne Edouard is a killer option for the Toffees capable of lightening the goal scoring load from the shoulders of Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison. However, Celtic will ask for a hefty sum form any club that is interested in the striker’s services.

Everton may not be in the financial position to pay a huge amount after the deals of Allan, James Rodriguez and Abdoulaye Doucoure go through.
