Former Manchester United flop Memphis Depay who is a target for Everton has issued a ‘come get me plea’ to his suitors.

Olympique Lyon were the surprise semi-finalists in the UEFA Champions League and Memphis Depay was a key cog in their impressive run. The Dutchman is the talisman of this Lyon team but there are doubts that his future does not lie with them. Everton, Arsenal and FC Barcelona have been constantly linked with the former Manchester United flop.

Memphis Depay has come a long way from being a Manchester United fiasco to Olympique Lyon hero. He has spent four years in France and has managed to be one of the best players in Ligue 1 competing with the likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe. His contract is set to expire next summer and so far there have not been any positive talks between the player and the club of a contract extension.

It appears that Memphis Depay is coming to an end of a cycle at Lyon and needs a new challenge or another chance to prove his worth in the Premier League. The 26 year old was stalling contract discussions with Les Gones as the club was concentrating on their UCL campaign.

Now that the new season has begun, Memphis Depay himself has cleared the air on his future. The Dutchman was on fire against Dijon, scoring a hat-trick and propelling Olympique Lyon to victory after being 1-0 down in the 15th minute. Depay who has been the architect of so many victories over the years in the Lyon shirt issued somewhat of a ‘come get me plea’ to his suitors.

"I do not see the future, I do not know if I will do the full season here. I have been here for four years, I became captain. After you have to look at your career, there is no Champions League. At the moment I don’t know.I’m really happy to have scored three goals today. It wasn’t the best game I’ve played but we start the season with three points, and that’s the most important thing. We have shown we can fight against the big teams, but we have to stay focused and win against the so-called ‘smaller’ teams. We have a lot of good players. We have to give our best to aim for the top. (via Goal)"

It appears that Depay is eyeing a move elsewhere and Premier League or La Liga could be a strong option. FC Barcelona have been linked in the past and with the whole revamp taking place, Depay may be a textbook choice to go for.

Everton are another team that is in the mix too with various sources confirming Toffees’ interest in the Dutchman. Memphis Depay has a point to prove. He wasn’t a successful player with Manchester United in the Top Flight but a return to the Premier League would mean he is itching to prove his substance.

Everton are already working to deliver James Rodriguez as a marquee signing, another player like Depay will be the icing on the cake. Capable of playing on the wings as well as the striker, the 26 year old gives flexibility to Ancelotti.

With a just over two weeks left before the Premier League begins, the chase for Memphis Depay is expected to gain momentum in the next few days especially after his comments after the Dijon match.
