It seemed just a few days ago that Everton were on the verge of completing the signing of Napoli midfielder Allan, now in another twist it appears that an agreement is still far from close.

On and on this goes as we wait what seems an eternity for this deal to be concluded. Today we hear from the player’s agent that in fact there hasn’t even been an agreement between Everton and Allan, regarding his own personal terms yet?!

The stories we are reading seem more and more confusing and contradictory, which is not really surprising these days but is still very frustrating.

Transfers seem to be getting ever more difficult to sort out and get done, at least where the Blues are concerned. Obviously the post-Covid financial situation complicates things even more.

And as we’ve previously discussed, it doesn’t help when Everton are having to deal specifically with clubs like Napoli or Watford that have a chequred history with them.

As for Allan, previously it appeared as though personal terms had been agreed and the holdup was over whether a disagreement on the fee could be resolved between the two clubs. Now, if Allan’s agent is to be believed, even that appears to have been premature.

At the same time as this story has come out, there are also rumours that the Brazilian player has held a farewell meal with his friends and teamates in Naples as he prepares to move to England and Italian journalists report the Napoli owner saying Allan is definitely joining the Blues!

More from Prince Rupert's Tower

Well it’s a guessing game as to how close the Toffees are to sealing this transfer. I think I speak for most Everton supporters when I say that I just want this thing done, one way or another.

It’s still more likely than not that the Blues will get their man, but the longer this process continues the more complicated and uncertain it’s outcome seems to become.

Some other transfer news and a slightly strange story about an apparent offer Everton made to take another of Barcelona’s reserves on loan.

This player is Brazilian right back Emerson, who the Toffees apparently tried to sign only for the deal to fall through much to the player’s own annoyance.

It’s very unlikely there is anything concrete in this one. However, the Blues are probably in the market for another right-back if other previous stories are anything go by.
