Everton and Napoli have agreed on a transfer for Allan but the Brazilian is yet to agree to the personal terms.

After weeks and weeks of intense negotiations, Allan to Everton is finally a done deal. The Toffees have been successful in bringing the deal down to €25 million plus €3 million in add-ons. The Naples side had an initial valuation of €40 million but Everton were as stringent as possible and ultimately managed to get their man at a respectable price.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis also confirmed that Allan will move to Everton subject to personal terms agreement and medical. In fact, the Brazilian has already bid adieu to his Napoli teammates and fans and is on his way for a medical. According to Sky Sports, Allan and James Rodriguez will both undergo Everton medicals on Wednesday with the deal to be announced soon.

However, there are some contrasting reports from Italy that Allan deal is not done yet. According to Tuttosport (via Inside Futbol), Allan is yet to agree to personal terms offered by Everton and is demanding higher wages than what is being offered at the table.

The 29 year old midfielder is not fully convinced on the monetary package and hopes for an improved salary. The Royal Blues have offered Allan €3.5 million a season that translates into roughly €90,000 a week in wages. However, the Napoli midfielder man wants €1 million added to his salary that will take his yearly earnings to €4.5 million.

Allan is still keen to move to Goodison Park but wants a deal that is best for him and he feels that his weekly wages can be improved. Meanwhile, Everton are confident that a middle ground can be reached and the final few formalities will quickly be done and the long dragging saga will finally come to an end.

In my opinion, Allan is trying to play hardball and Toffees must not fall to his demands. He is 29 and will see his value drop in a couple of years’ time. The Toffees already have some big wage earners like Yerry Mina and Gylfi Sigurdsson on their books. I am not saying that Allan also falls into the same category as Mina or Sigurdsson but the argument here is that the Toffees can’t afford to have players around the age of 30 or above pocketing mammoth salaries.

This will give rise to another problem in the future. Selling them will be a huge task because of their wage demands. FC Barcelona is facing a huge task selling their senior players because all are on high weekly salaries.

€90,000 a week for Allan seems a fair deal and a compromise will be reached soon. Carlo Ancelotti is building an ecosystem and bringing players that are familiar with his style and even if the arrivals are 29 year old’s, we’ll see short term gain in results.
