£27 million man tipped to return to England with Everton touted a possible destination
French Journalist Pierre Menes has tipped Idrissa Gueye to return to the Premier League, just one year after joining PSG from Everton.
When Idrissa Gueye left Everton in 2019, he left behind a massive gap that hasn’t been filled yet. A player of his stature has been missing in the Everton squad and neither of the available crops of players could fill in his shoes. PSG signed Gueye for £27 million but one year since the signing, they are looking to get rid of the Senegalese.
The 30 year old has failed to completely win the trust of PSG boss Thomas Tuchel and featured in a total of 34 games. PSG Sporting director Leonardo is keen to make some changes in the team and is open to offloading Idrissa Gueye as he continues to target the likes of Marcelo Brozovic from Inter and Sergei Milinkovic Savic from Lazio.
A Le10 Sport report stated that the Ligue 1 giants want to sell him in order to make space for new arrivals. This sparked a flurry of rumours that Everton are looking into the possibility of re-signing him.
There has been a considerable amount of interest from the Premier League for Idrissa Gueye. Manchester United and Wolves have seen their name linked to the Senegal international and a return to Everton is also not ruled out. Now, as per Planete PSG, French Journalist Pierre Menes has commented on Gueye’s mixed season in Paris and has tipped him to return to England with PSG willing to sell.
"He lacks density in the game. He lacks too much personality. I think to weigh well, PSG is a bit high for him. He can do better. But since he has a good rating in England, he can be part of the players that PSG can try to sell. Should he stay or leave? I think that PSG can get a good sum in the 15 or 20 million euros. It is good for him that he leaves and that the PSG recruits a midfielder more comfortable with the ball, stronger technically. He has good odds in England, he should have no trouble getting back into the Premier League. (via Planete PSG)"

There’s a high chance that the 30 year old will cross the English Channel and move to a Premier League side. Had I been writing this article a couple of weeks ago, I’d say that a return to Everton shouldn’t be overruled but with the arrival of Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure, it is fair to say that the services of Gueye may not be needed again at Goodison Park.
Allan is a gutsy ball winner and massively helps in cutting the passing lanes, a job that was well executed by Idrissa Gueye during his time in an Everton shirt. Now that the Toffees have Allan, I simply can’t see Gueye coming back.
Yet, I feel that the Premier League will suit him well and a return can be expected. Everton are now stacked with quality midfielders like Allan, Abdoulaye Doucoure, Andre Gomes and Jean-Philippe Gbamin who will be as fresh as a new signing after a horrendous injury plagues last year.
Even if a faction of Royal Blues would be standing with open arms for an Idrissa Gueye return, the truth is that there’s no place for Idrissa Gueye at Everton anymore.
