The wait is finally over with Allan making the switch from Napoli to Everton.
It’s Official. Here we go. Everton has announced their first of three midfield coups in form of Allan from Napoli. After weeks and weeks of negotiations, getting the final details over the line and then finally unveiling him in a Royal Blue jersey, this has been a roller coaster ride.
Allan had already arrived in Merseyside and appeared for a medical at Finch Farm. Yesterday the Brazilian was seen at the Titanic Hotel in Liverpool. Today he was finally presented to the fans and the media as he signed a three year deal until the summer of 2023 with the Toffees. Allan will dawn the No.6 jersey and has given his first interview as an Everton player.
Even though the club website says that Allan has joined for an undisclosed fee, reports widely suggest that it’s a €25 million deal that can rise up to €28 million based on certain bonuses. Allan has cherished his time with Carlo Ancelotti and admitted that he could not turn down the opportunity to work with the Italian again.
"It is a real pleasure to sign for Everton. I am immensely happy to be here. I hope, like I have done in my entire career, I contribute with my performances together with my teammates and that I put in some great games, great performances and win important things. It is a club with a rich history in the Premier League, has real ambition and then there is Professor Ancelotti. He has done everything possible to bring me here. It is the size of the Club and the name of the coach which means you don’t think twice about coming to Everton. (via Everton official website)"
The 29 year old also reflected on his playing style and how he intends to win the support of fans at Goodison Park. The midfielder is widely known for his ball winning abilities and contributing to the offensive as well as the defensive part.
"A strong part of my game is marking and the desire going in to win absolutely every ball. I believe with my desire I can put in really good performances to win the fans over and I hope to win things as well. There will be a tremendous amount of dedication from me, a lot of dedication – a lot. I received a lot of messages from Everton fans and that made me really happy and confident in the work I can do here."
Let’s hope that Professor Ancelotti can bring the magic back at Goodison with Allan being one of his many magic wands.
