Two Premier League clubs eye Everton midfielder whose future is in doubt after triple signings
Burnley and Leeds United have shown interest in Everton midfielder Fabian Delph, whose future is in doubt after triple midfield arrivals of Allan, Abdoulaye Doucoure and James Rodriguez.
Everton signed Fabian Delph from Manchester City for £8.5 million in 2019. A two time Premier League champion was brought to Goodison Park to inject the champion mentality in the squad. However, it hasn’t gone down too well with Delph in Merseyside. The Englishman has continuously struggled to find the rhythm in an Everton shirt. The Toffees are open to offloading him and two English clubs, the newly promoted Leeds United and Burnley, are keeping tabs on him.
In his first year at Goodison, he has managed to play just 20 games and has missed most parts of the season due to recurring injuries and niggles. It looks as if Delph may have to move again as new midfielders have arrived at Everton. Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure are expected to directly challenge Delph and in fact, always get the nod ahead of the Englishman in most of the games.
James Rodriguez is not expected to hamper Delph’s chances but the overall notion seems like the 30 year old won’t be a favourable choice for Carlo Ancelotti. The Toffees have already spent £65 million in the transfer market and want to spend more but in order to sign more players, they will have to generate funds and make space for new arrivals via player sales.
Muhamed Besic, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Sandro Ramirez, Yannick Bolasie, Tom Davies and Fabian Delph are all expected to be available for sale. Newly promoted Leeds United were interested in signing Fabian Delph in the region of £5 million, as per Daily Star. The 30 year old graduated from the Leeds academy and was a fan favourite at Elland road during his early career.

According to journalist Alan Nixon, Burnley is taking big interest in Fabian Delph. Burnley recently lost midfielder Jeff Hendrick on a free transfer to Newcastle United and the Clarets feel Delph is the right replacement.
So with definite interest from two Premier League clubs should Everton cash in on him? I’d say No. Only because he gives Everton a much needed cover at left back. I don’t expect him to play a major role in the team in general, but this season his responsibility will be to act as a back up left back after the retirement of Leighton Baines.
The Toffees aren’t expected to splash the cash on a back up left back when other positions remain to be upgraded. In such circumstance, the best solution will be to use him as a back up to Lucas Digne.
He won’t disturb the midfield and may even manage to get few games in the Cup games or during the tight and congested festive fixtures. Everton should only consider selling him if an offer arrives that is irrefutable. Keeping Fabian Delph in the team because of his versatility won’t be a bad decision after all.
