Everton can be considered to be in an advantageous position to sign AS Roma right back Alessandro Florenzi.

Sky Sports reporter Vinny O’Connor reported that Everton are still in the market for a right back. Carlo Ancelotti doesn’t seem to top at three signings in the form of Allan, James Rodriguez and Abdoulaye Doucoure. He intends to further strengthen the side and views Alessandro Florenzi of AS Roma as a strong option.

Gianluca Di Marzio revealed back in August that Everton are eyeing moves for Alessandro Florenzi and Abdoulaye Doucoure. While the Frenchman’s move is almost completed, the Roma right back news continues to float around. With a completed midfield revamp, Marcel Brands and Carlo Ancelotti can shift their focus to the shortcomings in defence.

The right back spot is an area of bother even though the Toffees have Seamus Coleman and Jonjoe Kenny. A considerable faction of the Royal Blues do not have confidence in Jonjoe Kenny and feel that he’ll never be able to challenge Coleman for the starting role. As much as an icon Coleman is, the truth is that he is in his twilight years and his legs are running out of juice.

In such circumstance, signing a right back should be high on the priority list. The loan of Djibril Sidibe did paper the cracks but a stop gap solution won’t work this time around. Alessandro Florenzi remains a hot favourite amongst the club supporters.

Now, as per a report from Corriere Roma (via Sport Witness), the AS Roma defender finds himself in an interesting situation. AS Roma are open to selling him as his services are no longer required by Paulo Fonseca.

The report also mentions that the Giallorossi haven’t received any satisfying offer from the clubs who have taken note of the situation. Florenzi also remains unimpressed by the offers at the table and is eyeing a move to ‘a first tier-team’. The report adds that currently, only Everton are the team that comes close to fulfilling the player’s desires.

Valencia and Leeds United have also been linked to the Italian but it is Everton who seem to be the bigger side of the lot. Leeds United look promising but have just managed promotion and the first year in the Top Flight can be tricky. Either you can match the heroics of Sheffield United or fall to the embarrassments of Norwich City.

Valencia is in a financial crisis of their own and their future doesn’t seem to be bright. At Everton, the 29 year old will be able to learn from the best, Carlo Ancelotti, and also contribute towards the revolution Don Carlo is planning.
