After triple signings, Everton will now look to offload players and are set to begin the exodus by selling the likes of Theo Walcott and Bernard. The former Arsenal man is attracting interest from Leeds United.

Everton have successfully completed the triple signings of Allan, James Rodriguez and Abdoulaye Doucoure. It is understood that the club is still eyeing more arrivals but are now focusing on clearing the deadwood. According to The Times, Everton have placed Theo Walcott and Bernard on the transfer list and are willing to listen to any offers that arrive. It is now being reported that Leeds United have shown interest in Walcott.

Theo Walcott had a largely inconsistent and underwhelming last season plagued by injuries. The 31 year old managed 2 goals and 4 assists in 29 games, failing to impress Carlo Ancelotti. He signed for the Toffees from Arsenal in 2018 for a fee of £20 million. The Englishman has done very little on the pitch to repay the money invested in him.

His deal is set to expire next summer and Everton are in no mood to offer him an extension. Instead, they are aiming to cash on him this summer rather than lose him for free. It is no surprise that the Royal Blues are eyeing a winger with the names of Wilfried Zaha, Leon Bailey, Jeremie Boga and Bertrand Traore appearing regularly on an Evertonian’s news feed.

Even if Theo Walcott is willing to push himself more this season, the reality is that he needs to be discarded soon. Carlo Ancelotti is orchestrating a revolution at Goodison Park and this season he is the time to lay the groundwork. A revamped midfield has been delivered now is the time to offload the players from the train that intends to now stop at the station of European competition.

More from Prince Rupert's Tower

According to Vinny O’Connor of Sky Sports, Leeds United are taking interest in Theo Walcott. The newly promoted side is eyeing reasonable additions that have Premier League experience and Walcott clearly ticks that box. Whether a move materializes in the upcoming days or not remains to be seen.

The Toffees are also looking to get rid of a number of other players and Bernard is one of them. He arrived from Shaktar Donetsk on a free transfer but has failed to fire up at Goodison. Bernard has dawned the Royal Blue jersey a total 0f 66 times and just managed to score 5 goals and provide 6 assists. You do not expect such poor returns from a player who is one of the highest earners at the club.

Bernard earns £120,000 in weekly wages whereas Theo Walcott pockets weekly wages of £100,000. Everton cannot afford to pay such huge wages to players who have contributed very little during their time at Everton.

Everton exodus is about to begin soon and layers like Theo Walcott and Bernard could be one of the first players to face the axe.
