Everton target Zaha scores in season opener
The Premier League season is underway and in one of today’s games, alleged Everton target Wilfried Zaha scored the winner as Crystal Palace beat Southampton 1-0 at Selhurst Park.
The Ivory Coast winger has been long linked with a move to Everton going back to last summer when the Blues were supposedly trying to strike a deal for him.
Now these stories are being revived again as Zaha is reportedly keen to make a move away from Palace as the Star report today.
His preferred destination is supposedly Goodison Park and it is claimed he wants to join the club as he sees major new signings coming through the door at Everton.
It seems very doubtful that the Toffees will make a serious bid for the Palace star this transfer window after having spent nearly £60 million on their new midfield recruits, but these rumours refuse to go away.
The Toffees have done a great job in strengthening the middle of the team with the addition of Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure.
They have also brought in a player of undoubted skill and technical quality in Colombian superstar James Rodriguez to lift the calibre of the Blues attack and the club’s commercial reach.
However, there could still be room for further additions, particularly in the wide positions either on the left or right of the team.

If so, Zaha is a player who would seem well suited to what the Blues might need to improve the wide attacking options open to Carlo Ancelotti.
He is a player with pace and real ability on the ball who has been his side’s chief creative and attacking source for the past few seasons.
Last season though was not his best and this might in part have been a consequence of his failure to get a move away last summer.
Zaha certainly creates a lot of chances but he also struggled to score enough goals recently and this is an issue for any potential interested party.
A loan deal doesn’t seem very likely as Palace will want to cash in if they sell him so that would seem to be that as far as Everton are concerned.
There would also seem to be more realistic bets for the Blues in terms of younger wide players who would be available on loan such as the Chelsea youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi.
