James Rodriguez dazzled on his Everton debut.

Attack:

James Rodriguez (Right wing) 8

James Rodriguez always wanted the ball and looked to make a telling pass when he received it. Created room for a decent shot that skipped just wide of the post. James Rodriguez troubled the Spurs’ defenders all the time he was on the pitch. A very good debut. Mixed hard work with his silky skill. Only dispossessed once. Created five chances.

Richarlison (Left wing) 8

Missed the first real chance of the match as he was off-balance after rounding Lloris and blasted his shot over the bar. Came close another couple of times as he continued to work hard. He also backtracked to help his back four. Continuously ran at Spurs, including forcing debutant Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg into a rash tackle and a booking.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Centre-forward) 9

Soared above his marker and his powerful header left Lloris with no chance to make a save. Held the ball up well and worked hard, ran the channels well. Lead the line well, occupying and causing Spurs central defenders problems consistently. Off to a good start.

Substitutions:

Gylfi Sigurdsson (on for Gomes 68 minutes) 6

Didn’t do anything wrong, but didn’t really do anything to stand out either. It’s likely he’s going to have trouble cracking this midfield.

Moise Kean (on for Calvert-Lewin 88 minutes)

Didn’t really have enough time to make a contribution.

Tom Davies (on for Rodriguez 90 minutes)

Not on long enough to get a rating.
