Here is the Everton predicted line up against Salford City for the second round of the Carabao Cup.

Evertonians are still relishing the domineering win over Tottenham Hotspur over the weekend but long before the celebrations could subside, another challenge awaits for Ancelotti’s high flying troops. The second round of Carabao Cup fixture is set to be played today, after just 72 hours from their game against Spurs. Everton takes on League two side Salford City.

Carlo Ancelotti will be torn between fielding a young side with players who wouldn’t regularly feature in the starting eleven or field an experienced line up because Carabao Cup could be the trophy that Everton have been craving for. There’s an optimistic feeling among Evertonians that their trophy drought could end this year and many want Ancelotti to focus on winning one of the domestic cups.

In my opinion, fielding a less experienced side won’t be an issue against Salford City. They have just been promoted to League Two and have no past experience of playing against a Premier League side. There will be a couple of senior figures in the starting lineup to exercise their leadership and guide their younger teammates on the pitch. Here is the Everton predicted starting line up against Salford City:

Goalkeeper: Jordan Pickford

Jordan Pickford had a brilliant match against Tottenham Hotspur and was genuinely one of the man of the match candidates. His impressive display against Spurs has silenced some of his critiques regarding his form and consistency.

The 26 year old is in good nick and can be expected to be given a game against Salford to further strengthen his confidence against a side that will be expected to struggle. There’s a chance that he may be the captain of the team and if he is able to lead and help team clinch a dominating victory, fans will soon start to back him rather than criticize him.
