Youngsters like Jonjoe Kenny, Niels Nkounkou and Jarrad Branthwaite are expected to start for Everton.

Defence:

Right back: Jonjoe Kenny

It will be games like these where Carlo Ancelotti will go with Jonjoe Kenny and give him a proper chance to impress the gaffer. The Italian has backed the academy graduate heavily in front of the media, asserting that Kenny is surely a part of his plans. Jonjoe Kenny is already on the good books of Ancelotti after a notable performance against Preston North End in the pre-season.

The attack minded full back can make the most out of today’s game and show his prowess going forward. If things go well, we may start seeing more of Kenny this season with the manager counting on the 23 year old even more in some crunch games as well.

Centre back: Michael Keane

Michael Keane and Yerry Mina played full 90 minutes against Spurs and resting one of them is necessary. Considering Mina’s injury troubles, it is best not to risk him. Everton will need a strong and reliable player who can assume charge if needed and Michael Keane will be the man to trust in the backline.

Centre back: Jarrad Branthwaite

The 18 year old was one of the brightest players once the Premier League restarted after the three month hiatus. He was lauded for his robustness and inspiring performances. While Branthwaite may not just be a starter yet in League games, cup matches should be his chances to build on a solid foundation he laid last season.

Left back: Niels Nkounkou

Niels Nkounkou joined Everton from Olympique Marseille and soon caught the eye of many during the pre-season fixtures. Lucas Digne remains an indisputable starter but with 3 games in 7 days, Ancelotti is likely to hand Nkounkou his first team debut in the Carabao Cup.
