Everton has had a perfect start to the current campaign with three wins from their first three games and fans are feeling optimistic about Everton’s chances of having a successful season. This is in stark contrast to the mood around the club after a less than a convincing end to the previous season.

The quick turn around in fortunes can be largely credited to the signings made so far in the transfer window that has completely transformed the Toffees’ midfield. All the three first team signings have hit the ground running, with Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure immediately adding some much-needed steel in the centre of the park.

The signing of Colombian superstar James Rodriguez garnered worldwide publicity and helped boost the club’s profile, and the former Real Madrid man has already shown his class on the pitch in his two appearances for the club so far.

Even Niels Nkounkou impressed on his debut against Salford City in the Carabao Cup and looks set for a bright future at the club. It’s been a strong window for Marcel Brands so far, but questions still surround the overall quality of the squad, especially considering that the likes of Yannick Bolasie, Mo Besic and Sandro Ramirez, amongst others, are expected to leave the club before the window closes.

The starting eleven look solid, but the players making up the rest of the squad haven’t been convincing in their recent performances for the club. There are still areas in the squad that need addressing if Everton is to maintain their promising early form over the course of the season and fulfil their ambition of finishing in a European spot come to the end of the current campaign.
