Jean-Clair Todibo and Fikayo Tomori have been linked to Everton.
Centre Back
Despite the strong start to the season, Carlo Ancelotti will have concerns at the quality of depth at centre back, particularly after the recent injuries to Mason Holgate and Jarrad Branthwaite, which have perhaps been the only negative moments of Everton’s so far.
Recent speculation has also suggested that Lewis Gibson is set to join Reading on a season-long loan in the coming days. This, coupled with the aforementioned injuries, leaves Everton short in the centre of defence and Ancelotti has recently stated that this is an area the Blues will have to address before the transfer window slams shut.
It was widely expected that Chelsea’s Fikayo Tomori would join the Toffees, but after a leaky defensive performance against Liverpool at the weekend, speculation suggests that Frank Lampard might want to hold on to defender.
Tomori did play at the weekend, coming on as a substitute after Andreas Christensen was sent off, and earned praise for a strong display against the league champions, particularly from some Chelsea fans that have urged to club to keep hold of the defender for this season.
With the Tomori deal looking less likely, attention has reportedly turned to Barcelona defender Jean-Clair Todibo, who has been told that he is not part of Ronald Koeman’s plans for the upcoming campaign.
Todibo is keen on a move and is reportedly available on a permanent transfer and could well follow in Yerry Mina’s footsteps in moving from the Nou Camp to Goodison Park.
