Santiago Arias and Diogo Dalot have been linked to Everton.

Right Back

Arguably, the position where Everton are most lacking any real quality options is at right back. Seamus Coleman has had a strong start to the season, particularly in the opening fixture against Tottenham Hotspur when he handily dealt with the threat of Heung-Min Son throughout the game.

However, while the club captain certainly has a lot to offer in terms of leadership around the squad, it is unlikely that the 31-year-old will be able to maintain the required level of performance on the field across an entire season to cement his place as Everton’s first choice right back.

With the addition of James Rodriguez on the right side of midfield, who likes to cut in from the wing and play in the more central areas of the pitch, Everton are crying out for a marauding right wing back that can get up and down the pitch to fill the gaps created by James’ movement. Unfortunately, Coleman hasn’t got the pace or stamina to fulfil that role anymore.

The Blues also have Jonjoe Kenny as an option, who has returned after a successful loan spell at Schalke, but the Liverpool-born full back still has a lot to prove before he can become a permanent and reliable member of Carlo Ancelotti’s starting eleven.

Recent speculation has linked the Toffees with Atletico Madrid defender, Santiago Arias, who the Spanish club are reportedly looking to sell in this window.

Atletico’s Sporting Director, Andrea Berta, has recently confirmed that Everton are one of a number of clubs that have spoke to the club in regards to Arias.

With a rumoured asking price of around £14 million, the right back could be a sensible option for the Blues and add to the ever-expanding Colombian contingent at the club, as well as offering the boss a strong option at right back.
