Everton: Santiago Arias bid already made, Atletico Madrid has another offer on table

According to Journalist Pipe Sierra, Everton has already made a bid for Santiago Arias. Atletico Madrid also has an offer from Bayer Leverkusen.

Everton has been interested in Atletico Madrid right back Santiago Arias for a long time and a number of inquiries have already been made for the Colombian. Los Rojiblancos are open to selling the 28 year old as Arias has been deemed surplus to requirements. Now the latest report suggests that Everton have already tabled an offer but there is competition from other teams like Bayer Leverkusen.

Jonjoe Kenny and Seamus Coleman are the Everton right backs but it seems as though the Toffees want to add more options to that position, particularly for two reasons. It seems as though the club is not entirely convinced with Kenny even though Carlo Ancelotti has backed the academy graduate in front of the media numerous times.

The second reason why Arias is a prime transfer target is the age of Seamus Coleman. The Irishman is on the wrong side of 30 and will start running out of juice soon. At Atletico Madrid, the Colombian right back has fallen down the pecking order with Kieran Trippier and Sime Vrsaljko the preferred right backs.

The Toffees aren’t the only admirers for the 28 year old. Bayer Leverkusen, AS Roma and PSG, are also attracted to Arias. According to Colombian Journalist Pipe Sierra, Everton has already submitted a bid of around €15 million.

Bayer Leverkusen is also fighting to sign the 28 year old Colombian and they too have put €15 million on the table. Atletico Madrid has two offers in total, one from the Toffees and other from the Germans.

Sierra also said that the talks are ongoing and are expected to further continue today. Perhaps, Everton has made their mind on signing Santiago Arias and that is why a bid has been launched. However, they will surely have to fight off competition from Bayer Leverkusen.

However, Everton does have a trump card that will help them convince Santiago Arias to join the Royal Blues: The recent arrival of Colombia’s best footballer, James Rodriguez. Yerry Mina and Rodriguez can influence Arias and even help him settle in Merseyside.

Yerry Mina has spent 2 years in Merseyside and can talk about football in England and overall lifestyle in the region. Santiago Arias would be a strong addition to the side but with that, it will almost guarantee that Kenny may be sold or loaned out again.
