Youngsters Niels Nkounkou and Jonjoe Kenny are expected to start in the Everton defence.

Defence:

Right back: Jonjoe Kenny

A lot of whispers are going around with Everton’s search for a right back which raises questions over Jonjoe Kenny’s future at Goodison Park. However, Carlo Ancelotti has backed the academy graduate in the media and counts on him. He had a decent outing against Salford City and is expected to start the game against Fleetwood Town as well.

Centre back: Yerry Mina

Ancelotti has minimal options at the centre back with Mina and Keane the only fit centre backs. It is almost a guarantee that Mina and Keane will start the game unless Ancelotti decides to deploy makeshift centre backs.

There is an urgent need for a centre back and the Toffees can’t simply use Keane and Mina every three days or else they’ll soon run out of gas. Jean-Clair Todibo is one of the options and the Frenchman could arrive before the end of the transfer window.

Centre back: Michael Keane

Michael Keane has not only been impressive on the defensive side but has also caused trouble on the offensive side, scoring 2 goals so far. His last Carabao Cup outing against Salford was evidence that he has immense leadership quality in him and can lead the side if need be. Even though Gylfi Sigurdsson was the captain, Michael Keane was the general marshaling the defence.

Left back: Niels Nkounkou

Niels Nkounkou arrived from Marseille on a free transfer and has instantly hit the ground running. Of course, he is a work in progress but the early signs are very positive. Last time around he and Anthony Gordon were a constant threat from the left side and similar intent can be expected from him against Fleetwood Town.
