Here are the Everton player ratings against Crystal Palace.
It wasn’t the most convincing win but it was just enough. Everton had to grind a lot today to walk away with 3 points. A slightly controversial penalty was given but this is what it is as per the new rules. Everton opened thE scoring in the 10th minute via Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
However, poor set piece marking allowed Crystal Palace to equalize via Cheikhou Kouyate in the 26th minute. A controversial penalty was converted by Richarlison to restore the thin 1 goal cushion. The second half was somewhat of a bland affair where Everton had to grind a lot and absorb.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin continued his fine goal scoring spree with Richarlison off the mark in the league. James Rodriguez is terrific as usual. All in all, it was not a very compelling win but sometimes it’s just about getting it over the line.
Crystal Palace will obviously won’t be happy with the penalty decision but you cannot say that Everton didn’t deserve the win after all the hard work. Here are the Everton player ratings:
Goalkeeper:
Jordan Pickford: 7
Couldn’t do much to keep the first goal out. The defending had to be more solid. Jordan Pickford had a silent game with Crystal Palace attack often fizzling out before reaching the goal area. The Englishman could have negotiated the corners a little bit better and handled that kind of situations with more intent. Overall, didn’t have to do much today.
