Edinson Cavani could be a solid striking option for Everton.

1. Edinson Cavani

Edinson Cavani is a free agent after PSG released him at the end of the last season. Since then he has been linked to Juventus, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Benfica and many others, yet no move has materialized.

There has been a lot of talk regarding the exit of Moise Kean as the striker feels homesick and wants to return to Juventus. While I personally wouldn’t want the 20 year old to leave, with each passing day the links just keep on intensifying. A permanent move is unlikely but a loan may be sanctioned.

Arkadiusz Milik is the striker who is said to be the replacement should Moise Kean leave. However, we need to take the financials of this operation into account. Arkadiusz Milik is to cost around €25 million and has personal demands of £160,000 a week in wages.

On top of that, Milik is in his prime and would want to play almost every game which obviously won’t be possible due to Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s sparkling form.

Trending. Everton will have to smash their wage budget to sign 11 goal attacker. light

I am not a Milik hater, I just feel that signing him will not be a very smart operation in terms of financial and tactical point of view. He is over qualified to be a back up and Ancelotti isn’t going to bench DCL often unless there are injury issues.

Signing Edinson Cavani adds the spice that you need from players that can come off the bench and change the look of the game. Let’s face it, Edinson Cavani, 33, isn’t in the best of the shape anymore but still is a killer in front of the goal.

Probably very similar to compatriot Luis Suarez whose overall game has depleted but still is reliable in front of goal thanks to the clinical character.

The Uruguayan will not be expecting to play every game as he is now on the last legs of his career. So, if Kean does depart on loan, a short one year or a two year contract can be struck with Edinson Cavani.

He brings loads of experience and that instinctiveness of a striker to the table. This will be a very tricky operation but if the Toffees are able to sign Edinson Cavani on a free transfer, it’ll be a major coup.
