Everton will have to smash their wage budget to sign Tottenham Hotspur target  Arkadiusz Milik from Napoli.

Everton has been the latest team to get linked with Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik after Juventus, AS Roma and Tottenham Hotspur. The Pole wants to leave Napoli and reportedly is eyeing a Premier League move after his AS Roma transfer failed.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Everton and Tottenham Hotspur are keen to sign Arkadiusz Milik from Napoli before the end of the transfer window. The Polish international wants cut his ties with Napoli and hasn’t renewed the deal which expires in summer of 2021.

If he fails to secure a move away from Naples, he may find himself isolated with Napoli looking at Victor Osimhen and Dries Mertens as their first choice strikers. In such circumstance, a transfer will be the best possible outcome for Milik.

Jose Mourinho at Tottenham Hotspur wants a striker who can act deputy to Harry Kane and ease the load during the long and draining season. Spurs have already signed Gareth Bale on loan, Sergio Reguilon and Matt Doherty. Mourinho is now targeting a striker and a centre back to build a stable squad which cannot be easily withered away by injuries, something that we saw last season.

As for Everton, young striker Moise Kean is eager to return to Juventus on loan and his agent, Mino Raiola, is already working with the Old Lady to make the return possible. Moise Kean hasn’t been able to justify his £27 million price tag but with the Italian being just 20 years old there’s hope in Everton camp that he’ll mature and develop himself into a striking sensation.

This is the reason why the Toffees do not want to let Moise Kean go permanently and are open to only a loan move back to Juventus. If Kean does depart, Ancelotti will need another striker to cover and compete with Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Arkadiusz Milik is the chosen candidate with Everton pushing for another reunion of Ancelotti and a player he coached before.

However, Napoli wants around £25 million for the 26 year old who scored 11 Serie A goals last season. This is a sizeable fee which the Toffees may not be able to pay because they still have another position to bolster and that is of a centre back. On top of that, Arkadiusz Milik wants a contract worth £160,000 a week from any side that is interested in his services, as per Daily Mail.

So, Everton will have to absolutely break their wage budget to acquire his signature. At the moment, new signing and creative talisman is the highest earner at Goodison Park with wages around £140,000 a week.

Is Arkadiusz Milik really worth that money? Forget money for a second, in one of my previous articles, I highlighted that taking Milik makes no sense because he is over qualified to be a deputy to DCL and the red hot form of Calvert-Lewin won’t allow Ancelotti to bench the Englishman.

So, all in all, taking into the financial and logical aspect, Arkadiusz Milik to Everton is a big NO. He is a prolific goal scorer and is in his prime but smashing the wage budget just to keep him as a regular substitute makes no sense.
